Grapes: Alicante and Syrah 50/50.
Vines: Planting is at a density of 6250 plants per hectare. Part of the vineyards face North-South, 8-10km from the Mediterranean coast, just by the Maremma Natural Park. The other vineyards are located in the hilly area to the North of the Scansano district. Production per plant is between 0,50 and 0,75 kg.
Vinification: The wine was fermented completely in small, open French oak barrels aged more than three years. Malolactic fermentation and maturation in second and third use barrels (80 % and 20 % respectively), for between 16 and 18 months, followed by 8 months in bottle before release.
Finisterre is a blend of Alicante and Syrah, showing notes of liquorice, chocolate and olive oil tomatoes, and the Cabernet franc gives even more complexity and elegance to this all Maremman powerhouse wine. This is wonderfully drinkable wine, with a bold structure, superb freshness and intriguing, graceful complexity.
