Antonio Camillo's profile

Some details about Antonio Camillo

"I've been walking the vineyards of the Maremma for 15 years, and I've been making wines in some of the best wineries of the area.
In the last nine years I contributed to the success of Poggio Argentiera, along with Gianpaolo Paglia and Justine Keeling. It has a been a time where I grew professionaly and where I developed the ambition of making some wines with my name and with my character. The area I've chosen is my homeland, where I was born and bred, the area of the "high" Maremma, nearby the villages of Manciano. it is a very Maremman area, but at the same time very different from the coastal area and even from the more inland Morellino di Scansano area. I strongly believe that in these locations we can make wines that can talk about their terroir and that can be easily regognizable for their character and their class, and I want to prove it".

That's what Antonio Camillo says, and I can only confirm that he is a very passionate and dedicated man with whom I shared an important part of my professional life and that I'm excited to continue with him in this new venture. I have decided to join Antonio in this project of developing wines in those incredibly beautifl parts of Maremma. The cellar of Poggio Argentiera is already a familiar place for Antonio and the wine making of these new wines can appropriately be made here, and I'm so convinced of the values of these wines that I've decided to distribute them with Poggio Argentiera commercial network.

We focused on two varieties. One is the very local, and very underestimated Cilliegiolo, and the other is an international variety that found itself accostumated in this part of the Maremma: the Sauvignon blanc.  The two wines that we were able to make so far are the Principio (100 % Ciliegiolo) and the Alture (100% Sauvignon)
