Poggio Argentiera owns 22 ha of vineyards located in the Morellino di Scansano DOCG appellation. They are located in two estates, called Poderi: Podere Adua and Podere Keeling.

Podere Adua: this farm was built in the early part of the last century, when the Maremma area was drained and made suitable for farming.
It has 22 hectares, of which 11 are planted with vineyards. It is few miles south of Grosseto, and about 5 miles inland from the sea, in a peaceful setting by the Maremma Nature reserve.
The winery and offices are also here. The land is few metres above sea level, flat and sandy, and the climate is typically Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers and short, mild winters, with most of the rainfall concentrated in February and March. Most of the vineyards are young with high density planting (6000 plants per hectare), and there are also some older vineyards which vary from 15 to 30 years old.
The winery and barrel cellar, bottling plant and warehouse are newly built and designed to provide the best environment for producing and storing our wines.

Podere Keeling: This farm is in Fontequaranta (Fonte40), near the small village of Baccinello, not far from Scansano. The soil is sandy-clay mixed with shingle, and gives excellent drainage. The vineyards all benefit from drip irrigation. This land is perfect for vines and produces grapes of an exceptionally high quality. The altitude varies from 200 to 270 meteres above sea level, giving a view to Castiglione della Pescaia to the east and Monte Amiata to the north.
11 hectares are under vine, at a density of 5680 plants per hectare. The varieties are Sangiovese, Alicante, Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Fiano, and all are vinified at Podere Adua.
The marriage of these two different terrains and micro-climates gives us the opportunity to produce wines that encompass all the diversity of the Maremman terroir and that express it in all its richness.

Capatosta, Bellamarsilia, Maremmante, Finisterre and Lalicante wines are made from these two Poderi.

Vineyards leased or controlled by us: more recently we have leased 3 more Ha of vineyards in the Morellino di Scansano area (yellow marker on the map) and 4-5 Ha near the beautiful town of Capalbio (green marker), where the Vermentino and Ansonica grapes are grown and used to make the Guazza and the Fonte40 white wines.

Antonio Camillo's Vineyards

More vineyards that we have leased or that we farm are the ones used to make Antonio Camillo's wines.

Sauvignon blanc vineyards, above on the map, with which we produce the Alture white wine. They are located in the Pitigliano and Sorano area, on a volcanic soil called tufo, at 500 m above the sea level.

Two other vinyards are those used to make the Ciliegiolo grapes that are needed to produce the Principio wine. They are made up of rather old vines (one vineyard was planted in 1968), and they are located not far from the village of Manciano.
