Alture IGT Sauvignon

Very intense nose of grapefruit, stone fruit, mandarine, some vegetal notes too. At the palate is rich, bone dry, with flavours of tropical fruits, citrus, mineral and stony notes and a long, refreshing finish.

Why a Sauvignon in the Mediterranean area of Maremma? Because Sauvignon vines were planted here years ago, to supplement with more complex flavours the otherwise rather neutral Trebbiano (Ugni Blanc) that makes the backbone of the local wine “Bianco di Pitigliano”. This seems to be a very favourable area for the Sauvignon: high altitude (400/500 m ASL) for freshness and pureness of flavours, Mediterranean sun and dry climate for more ripe fruit and less vegetal notes, tufo rock soils for minerality and acidity. Try it in comparison with Sauvignon from other areas and note the differences. Drink it now, but can keep for 3/4 years.

Grape: Sauvignon blanc 100%
